For the first time in Kazakhstan, Professor A.B.Bigaliev developed a new fundamental direction of science - "Ecological and genetic monitoring of the natural environment and public health", conducted fundamental research to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of mutations under the influence of radiation and the mechanisms of radioprotective action of chemical protectors.
