The book is dedicated to Gappar Kasenuly Ergaliyev, doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences, professor, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan and academician of the Kazakh National Academy of Natural Sciences, laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR and the Prize named after K.I. Satbayev. G.K. Ergaliyev is the founder of the stratigraphic scheme of the Karatau type of sections of the Cambrian deposits of Kazakhstan and one of the authors of the stage scale of the Cambrian system of the former Soviet Union. He developed the first zonal scale of the Cambrian and Lower Ordovician deposits of Southern Ulytau and Karatau. He established the Aksai State Geological Reserve in South Kazakhstan as a unique natural heritage for visiting scientists and students from near and far abroad.

The publication presents archival materials, selected works of the scientist, articles by contemporaries and relatives, as well as photographs.
