
The First All-Union Turkological Congress
The book presents the second edition of the verbatim report of the First All-Union Turkological Congress, which was held from February 26 to March 5, 1926 in the city of Baku. The reports of world famous scholars of linguists, historians, ethnologists, political figures on Turkic languages and their future were heard at it, resolutions were adopted. In particular, the reports of the members of the Kazakh delegation, Akhmet Baitursynov, concerned the approval of the new Turkic alphabet, methods for studying the native language, and scientific terminology. The content of the Turkological discourse of 1926 is relevant at the present time, when the reform of the alphabet is in prospect in the republic, as well as on the eve of the World Congress of Turkologists in the capital city of Astana.
The book is supplemented by the introductory speech of the rector of al-Farabi Kazakh National University, academician Galimkair Mutanov, and the introduction by the vice president of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, academician Isa Gabibbeyli.
